Study Playlist

Since my entire weekend was preoccupied with studying I thought I'd share with you my favorite songs to study to. I know this is too short to be an actual "playlist" but I have some last minute cramming to do so I did my best :) I hope you like it.

p.s. I've only recently discovered I like folk music, if you have any recommendations for artists to check out leave them in the comments!

Sleeeeeep

My thoughts while looking at the draft page of this post are going something like this.. "are there pictures?" "Yep." "Are there words?" "Typing them." Halfway there!

I'm at the end of a hectic day. Hectic mentally I mean. I must have studied for my obstetrics test for about seven hours and I'm about to go to sleep and do it all over again in the morning (my brain is filled with knowledge yo!). I'm a tad bit loopy from lack of sleep and the sadness from reading about Labor and Birth complications for seven hours... So to make up for the sob fest I'll just give you some pretty pictures from last weekend (I'm catching up!) and hope we're still friends after this. Also, if you read to this point, gold star!.... okay time for sleep now.

Week 12

I am stress incarnate right now. Studying relentlessly for yet another week of exams. I won't bore you with details but I will say that nursing school is not conducive with sleep. That is all.
I hope you have a relaxing weekend.

Thanks

My heart is full. The day has only begun and already it's filled with light, love and thanksgiving. Soon I'll go break bread with my family but for now I am soaking in the light and joy that this morning has to give.

(I also would like to say how happy I am to share this space with you. Thank you for all your sweet comments and the love you send.)

Week 11 - Magical Moments

Time has been flying so fast. Life is filled with mental health care plans, pediatrics reading, obstetrics studying and ethical analysis. I try my hardest to balance time between school, family, friends, fun, and crafting, but no matter how hard I try school always takes precedence and the others fall to the wayside. But there's no reason to complain, because I have been given an opportunity to help better my life and others so I just need to find the silver lining in every day. I think that's why taking photos has helped me so much lately. Openly acknowledging the beauty in the little things I come across daily helps make even the most mundane moments seem magical.
I hope you stop to see the beauty in your day.

10/29 - 11/2

As I sit here in the coffee shop in the exact place I sit every friday (I'm a creature of habit) I realize that these photos are exactly two weeks old. It's amazing how time flies when life is crazy busy.  I try and stay as updated on this blog, but the posting just seems to come and goes in spurts. This week was really relaxed but let's rewind two weeks and talk about this dress...

I found this beauty in savers during their after Halloween sale and I snagged it for $5. I didn't try it on because I loved the scallops and figured it would be a great addition to the shop. I also grabbed a green 60s cocktail dress (pictured below) to keep for myself. I tried on this navy scalloped beauty for fun when I got home and fell deeply and hard in L O V E. It's funny to me that I can feel this way about clothing but it's really all about how it makes you feel. When I wear this dress I feel sexy/cute/fun and a little bit like one of Santa's elves (in the best possible way). But every dress I keep comes with a price and this one was the price of one 60s green cocktail dress that will be in the shop in it's place.
(I also designed a new logo for my shop! What do you think?)

Are there any pieces of clothing that make you feel like you can conquer the world?

A Beautiful Mess for Modcloth

I've always admired the red velvet girls (although, who doesnt?). They are such a creative bunch with such a fun quality. It's one of those "I think if we met we'd be friends" kind of situation and after watching this video I think that even more! A Beautiful Mess created this video for the release of their Modcloth collection. It is the perfect representation of a fun fall night with friends. Rock on ladies, and keep on creating!

09/28/12

I realized the other day I never posted photos from me and Jordan's five year anniversary. We have a yearly tradition of writing sappy love letters. I love re-reading them every year    - 09/28/12
I remember the first day I met you. I was wearing a mustard sweatshirt over a swimsuit and you were wearing the same blue plaid shirt you still wear all the time. I remember thinking you were so cute. And the song you sang to me made me laugh so hard because it was so bad and you knew it. It's so strange to think now that I was meeting you, because it's strange to think of a time I didn't know you.
I remember our first date. You took me to a football game and waited to the very last quarter to ask me to be your girlfriend. Had you asked me then, if I thought we'd still be together 5 years from now, I would have said yes. And I'm so happy that we are. I love you so much Jordan, you're the moon of my life and I can't wait to spend many more years with you ♥ "
" I've spent the last 5 years with the most amazing carbon-based life form. Things are started to get a bit serious (I might even go in for a kiss soon). My life could not be more perfect, and it is thanks to you, my love...the moon of my life. It is my greatest joy to spend an epoch with you on this planet. I love you. Forever. "
I hope your day is filled with love

Weekend 11/2-11/4

Although taken over a week ago these photos still ring true to the mood of the day. Cool and white, cool and white. The earth has been blanketed with a layer of snow. All is quiet and serene, and campus has an eery stillness to it that is contributed to the long weekend. I've spend the weekend reading and catching up on obstetrics. All around me the world seems still and my mind and body are racing onward to another section of clinicals and another week.
I think today was a beautiful day. Spent in a coffee shop with the man I love and reading up on how to care for a woman and infant after birth. But today is almost done and although I'm thankful for the calm, I'm happy that tomorrow will be colorful again.

The Weaver House Lookbook

I am so enamored with this look book by The Weaver House. It's a beautiful polyvore-esque arrangement of pretty pieces from their shop that translate into these absolutely gorgeous outfits. The pairings have such an magical and quirky quality that makes me want to buy every single piece! I really recommend checking out their wonderful shop. It's stuffed to the brim with pretty vintage pieces!
