People ask me nearly every day if this is my natural hair color and I'm never sure how to respond. It's not (I'm naturally a reddish-blonde), but I'm not sure a stranger needs to know that or that I need to own up to dyeing my hair every time someone asks. Don't get me wrong I know they're asking out of sincere curiosity with no malicious intent, usually with the intention to compliment me on the color (which is so sweet by the way :), but every time I'm asked that question I feel like I have to admit that a little piece of myself is fake. I've had red hair for about three years now and it feels so natural on me that I find myself forgetting that it's not. I've never felt more vibrant, more fun, or more me than when I have these bright red curls (seriously, having my hair dyed is the best feeling ever)! Is there a color that makes you feel that way too?

ReplyDeleteI have natural red hair of a particuarly vibrant shade, and people ask me all the time if the color is mine. I usually don't mind this question, but I've never considered how irritating it would be if the answer was "no".

You know, I get that question all the time too! And I don't dye my hair - but I also find it really odd (particularly at the hairdresser!)- regardless of what I might respond. But I guess it is no use getting offended - I am sure it is intended as a compliment!
