Nursing Program

I'm sorry for my absence lately but I have been fully enveloped in schoolwork and completely oblivious to the ongoings of the online world.
I have some great news. I just got accepted into my Universities Nursing Program and I couldn't be happier (This was actually one of my new years resolutions)! And tomorrow is my birthday!
But once again sorry for the intermittent posting! Everything will be back to normal in 5 weeks!

June 1962

I love flipping through the vogue cover archives and I always seem seem especially drawn to the 1960's. I copied some of the info vogue supplied about the issue and put it below. Its really interesting to read how much things have changed and yet how much they have stayed the same. Although it seems spring has once again evaded us (yes its snowing, again) it's still nice to look at this photo and pretend summers here =)

Featuring Jean Shrimpton on the cover for the first time, this issue promises us"the prettiest season ever". "What's an English summer?" asks the editor. "Well among other things it's hot, still days and grasshoppers and the smell of suntanned skin, the ping of tennis balls and warm, crushed grass, the sweet prickle of strawberries, the gaudy stripe of awning and cricket club blazers, and the honky-tonk of summer fairs and What the Butler Saw on Brighton Pier…"
The time of year for Ascot, Henley, Eton's Fourth of June and Glyndebourne" means clothes are as important to the season as stripes to a tiger", and while many of the silk suits, slim skirts and free falling jackets are in black and brilliant colours, Vogue give an "Evening forecast: White windfall". Snowy evening dresses are recommended because they "stand out in a roomful of colours like a dove in a parrot's cage".

NOWNESS presents: Advanced Style

ModCloth posted this on their blog and I was immediately in love. Ever since I was a little girl the media has made me fear aging. It's this associating of (age = bad) that makes me so shocked when I see these fabulous women declaring their own (outrageously awesome) style without fear of scrutiny! I love their bold take on individuality when it comes to dressing <3 Enjoy
What do you think. Are you excited or afraid to be older?

Things I Love - Greek Goddess

In honor of the first full day of spring I put together an outfit fit for a Greek goddess. More specifically Persephone. I imagine her wearing this after returning from hades to call the flowers back from their cold resting place.

Treasure Hunting

One thing me and Jordan really love to do is go thrifting. A little while back I found this 60s flower print dress and just "rediscovered" it in my closet last week.
I am completely aware of the fact it is tacky and way too bright but in this gloomy weather it really cheers me up. My mom also payed me the biggest compliment by saying it looked like something her mother wore in the 60s. Mission accomplished.
Goodwill's record selection really depends on who has been donating recently. Luckily for me someone had just donated their entire Claudine Longet collection and I got them all! If you like the 60s sound you'll love Claudine. I also picked up another Melanie album to add to my collection.
One of the best thing's about thrifting to me is the interesting things I come across, like these 60s micro mini's. (I didnt buy either of them.)
You cant see it in this picture (sorry about the crappy lighting) but these mini's end right where the picture ends. Making them the funniest things to try on. They might have been little girl's dresses, or a very rebellious teenagers =)

What are some things you've picked up thrifting?

I urge you to donate if you are able and if you are not, keep the citizens of Japan in your heart.

Alexander McQueen Fall 2011 RTW

To me this was the seasons most anticipated show. The rumour of a royal commission and the still fresh death of  a former designer and artist came together and made the fashion world wonder, "would there be an allusion to a royal wedding dress?" "Will Sarah Burton once again carry on dramatic and eclectic style that McQueen once brought to the runway?"... And like always. We were not disappointed.
The dramatics were also carried out with the venue. The show took place in the  La Conciergerie, Marie Antoinette's prison before her death and also the site of a previous McQueen show. The models accented the clothing with their armor like hairstyles and nearly nude faces while wearing dresses that are truly fit for a Queen.

Things I Love - Think Pink

To me the word pink brings back one memory and that is to "Think Pink." When I was a little girl I received a rock star Barbie for Christmas one year and with her was a pink tape that had a couple Barbie tracks on it. The one I remember the most is think pink because I would play it constantly much to the dismay of my mom while pretending me and Barbie were singing it together. Now that I'm older I think about what 8 year old me liked and what I like now and what it would be like if those two merged. Below are some things I love because of their retro 60s feel and 8 year old me would like them too, because they're pink.

If 8 year old you had a say in what you were wearing now what would it be?
