Bon Voyage 2010!

This year was truly great but I won't bore you with the specifics. I'm happy to say this was my first full year of blogging and it was truly an experience and I look forward to my second year =)
I hope you all have a happy and safe holiday. I'm going to a girlfriends house from college to meet up with the ladies. I won't be getting my new years kiss this year because Jordan's going to meet up with the guys, but traditions be damned! We're making our own traditions.
I'm leaving you this year with a hilarious video I saw on the ModCloth blog. Clothing of the future, year 2000, from the 1930's.
Hope your new year is great, see you in 2011!

Some of the biggest disappointments in life are things we can't control.

Mine is that I'll never see them play live...

Ahh Betty

(Screen shot done by me, pardon the pun)

One Christmas gift I got this year was season one of Mad Men. And I have to say, so far this is my favorite betty moment. Don't mess with mama.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holiday's Everyone!

I hate to not post as often on Holiday's but sometimes it's unavoidable. I'm probably going to take off a couple days to spend some time with the family but trust me if some time comes up I'll be right back here!

I was absolutely shocked this morning when I realized that my blog's one year anniversary came and went without me even realizing, I guess it just shows how time can catch you off guard. So I wanted to say thank you to everyone who reads and comments (or those who don't, commenting on everything can be tiring :) ). Because you guys  are the ones who make this all worth it. I'm so thrilled to be a part of this little community and I wouldn't trade any of the time I spend on here for anything in the world. I hope all of your holiday's are bright and your feet stay warm (random I know but dang it's COLD outside!)

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Christmas List

Dear Santa,

I've been moderately good this year. There was one instance of general bratiness to that one girl that looked at me funny... And the time I think I ran a mouse over on that back road by my house by accident... but other than that, pretty good. Attached below is my Christmas list. Please take a peak...

(I want to be perfectly clear when I say I did not ask anyone for any of these things. Because to be honest, I can't even afford half of these let alone ask anyone else to buy them for me. That's why the list is reserved for Santa. That way if I open any of these on Christmas morning... Well you know, a girl can hope ;)

The handle of my favorite bag broke a couple weeks ago and I've yet to replace it. I've been looking to replace it with a leather satchel so it will last longer and I think I found a winner on Topshop today.

I also have been considering buying another dinosaur toes necklace because who doesn't want jewelry made from weapons? And they're so pretty...... <3

And the last two things on my list would be this teddy and sweater combo previously being sold on Closet Case Vintage. But alas. They're no longer listed =(

What do you really want for Christmas that you feel too guilty to ask for?

Things that made me smile today

A 1962 copy of Walt Disney's Worlds of Nature Jordan had that I "discovered" today
And my big ring makes me happy too.
The Kinks + My Record Player... It gives me warm fuzzies
Me and Jordan collect a lot of random things. Records and vintage books are just a couple. What do you collect?

En Pointe

Baby ballerina's
Hiding somewhere in the corner
Where the shadow wraps around her
And our torches cannot find her
She will stay there till the morning
Crawl behind us as we are yawning
And she will leave our game
To never be the same

Burnt Orange

Theres nothing sexier than a subtle collar bone peaking out of a sweater.

I think people should stop trying to be overtly sexy

textbook

One of my favorite blogs I follow is textbook. It is one of the most original blogs I've ever encountered. The basic idea behind John Jannuzzi's posting is the styling of what he believes characters of history, literature, and other characters (of many mediums) would wear. The reason I'm telling you about this is because of a recent series of posting he has done after seeing the movie "Black Swan" (have I ever mentioned how psyched I am to see this?, Well I AM!). The styling is absolutely perfect! Check them out.

Make new friends, but keep the old

This week's been a week of new things. For one I have my new layout (*me applauding in an empty room*), although its relatively similar to the old layout it's still refreshing to have change (plus its loooong overdue).

(Old layout)

(New fancy layout ;)
(And the pictures are big! Because I can do that now!)

Speaking of change and new things. Today the lovely Jamiella from buildings & mountains is moving in and we are both super excited to make a semesters worth of memories as roomies! And really excited to start decorating the room!

p.s. I've noticed a slew of gift guide posts from other bloggers. I apologize for not making one for you =( But unfortunately, I am not qualified to even select good gifts for the one's I love let alone give you advice on what to buy! (best of luck!)

Salon Berlin

I've been in a Mad Men mood all week. Although I am jealous of the era's clothing, Watching the show really makes me appreciate the fact that woman receive a lot more respect now than before.
Don Draper: We should get married.
Midge: You think I'd make a good ex-wife?
Don Draper: People were buying cigarettes before Freud was born.
 Joan: Dr. Emerson's a dream, isn't he?
Peggy: He seemed nice.
Joan: He has a place in South Hampton. I'm not saying that I've seen it, but it's beautiful.
Rachel: You were expecting me to be a man. My father was, too.
Don Draper: The reason you haven't felt it is because it doesn't exist. What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons. You're born alone and you die alone and this world just drops a bunch of rules on top of you to make you forget those facts. But I never forget. I'm living like there's no tomorrow, because there isn't one.
Midge Daniels: You know the rules, I don't make plans and I don't make breakfast

Warning, I am about to shamelessly plug my friends blogs.
That is all

Recently too two (whoah i'm tired) of my very best ladies decided they wanted a little piece of this fabulous blogging world and so this is my part where I tell you a little about them!

Alyssa is my vivacious silly friend who has a love for all things cat (Its strange but fun)
Check her out at The WolfPack

My soon to be Roomie who we will for the moment call J. (I'm not quite sure how much she's into anonymity) Is a free spirited whirlwind of excitement (and a little bit of an activist)
Check her out at buildings & mountains

These ladies are the bomb and I definitely recommend you check them out!!

Duffy -- Syrup & Honey

This song is my newest obsession. Duffy's keeping me sane during finals week.

This post was going to be longer but my brain decided to quit on me early today.
Countdown: 5 more days of finals week

Photo of the Day

My Anatomy  Professor once told me that in order to succeed I need to "Eat, sleep, breathe, and study Anatomy. And if you find you're not succeeding, cut one out."
I cut out sleep.

Back to regular programming soon...

Picture of the day

They came!
I feel like I've been waiting for these records forever! Now I have something new to listen to when I'm studying =) Speaking of studying, I'm sorry everyone for not posting as often as I usually do! But I've been studying day and night for my Anatomy & Physiology Finals and I feel like my brain is going to explode. And that dear readers is why I haven't posted any pictures of myself like I said I was going to, because, well I look like I just spent the last 6 hours studying... Which I have... And now I'm rambling... Sorry ;)

Any who my question of the day is. What's your favorite record?

Honey

Memories haunting my evenings,
Eyes watching me through the moon
I hope my good days aren't over
Not so soon...
.
I never have seen an angel
I gave up watching the sky
Whisper softly to me honey
But don't lie,don't you lie
I still see you when my eyes are closed
And tell me why I can't let go
I still smell you inside of my clothes
Oh, honey

Winter Sonata

I left you in the morning,
And in the morning glow,
You walked a way beside me
To make me sad to go.
Do you know me in the gloaming,
Gaunt and dusty gray with roaming?
Are you dumb because you know me not,
Or dumb because you know?
All for me And not a question
For the faded flowers gay
That could take me from beside you
For the ages of a day?
They are yours, and be the measure
Of their worth for you to treasure,
The measure of the little while
That I've been long away...
